Mafia Island Marine Park’s waters has extraordinary reefs and dive sites, with more than 400 species of coral exploiting the myriad niches. If you are contemplating SCUBA diving while staying at Chole Mjini you now have choices. Chole Mjini is offering Bespoke, private diving or, to reduce costs, you can chose instead to take advantage of the services offered by ‘Mafia Diving’, a PADI dive center very nearby in Chole Bay, whose dive boats can pick you up and drop you off again.
Lodge owner Jean de Villiers is a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer and a biologist. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of Mafia’s dive sites, he is able to tailor dives to the specific needs of each individual or small group. He is also available to offer private instruction from novice to Assistant Instructor and many specialities. Jean’s wife Anne is also a biologist, a PADI Dive Master and accomplished underwater photographer and she is a certifiable ‘nudi-nutter’ who is ready to introduce everyone to the incredible beauty of microscopic invertebrates.
