The atmosphere in Chole village is very friendly and welcoming. The community welcomes you as their guest too. You can stroll around on your own, or Jean and Anne will arrange for one of the staff (all of whom come from the village) to accompany you; you are only requested to cover mid-riff, knees and shoulders. Aside from simply strolling around, we recommend you visit one of the village projects that your stay is directly contributing to; you should certainly make a turn at the boatyard, where dhows are built by master craftsmen much as they have been for centuries – entirely by eye.
